You need to change here to take the train to Inle Lake (Shwenyaung Railway Station). About Thazi


There is not much in Thazi except for a train station and single guesthouse: The Moon Light Guest House. The Moon Light Guest House in Thazi is the place to stay if you end up staying overnight in Thazi.

The Moon Light Guest House is 1.9 km from Thazi Railway Station, which is a 23 minute walk at an average walking pace. You can take a horse and cart from the train station for $1 USD. There are three room types at Moon Light Guest House:

  • Single Fan Room with Private Bathroom: $10 USD
  • Double Fan Room with Private Bathroom: $15 USD
  • Double A/C Room with Private Bathroom: $30 USD

Enter via the left set of double wooden doors. This is a friendly establishment with an intermittent WiFi connection. There is currently no ATM machine in Thazi so make sure you bring cash with you. The ground floor Red Star restaurant serves basic food and cold beer at inexpensive prices. The best rooms are in the recently built extension. If you do not fancy walking back to the train station the hotel can arrange a horse and cart to take you.
